Dr. Leon Popovitz is a NYC based highly skilled board certified Orthopedic Surgeon who specializes in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery - particularly minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and knee. He is an expert in treating ACL, meniscus, and cartilage tears of the knee, torn labrums in the shoulder, shoulder dislocations that result in Bankart tears, and rotator cuff tears. He has treated world class athletes, such as those from the U.S. Open Tennis Championships, as well as weekend warriors, providing compassionate individualized care specific to each patient’s needs. Dr. Popovitz’s treatment philosophy is to preserve a patient’s innate vital structures in an effort to extend the life of their joints, and stresses rehabilitation, when needed, so a patient can potentially avoid surgery when not necessary.
