What is a "mystery illness"?

A mystery illness is an undiagnosed or difficult to diagnose illness. They are often caused by chronic infections with multiple symptoms, across multiple systems in the body that are often debilitating. They can be caused by inflammatory responses to toxins that can accumulate in the body. Mold toxins and mold toxicity illness, glyphosate toxicity, and EMF sensitivity are examples. Mystery illnesses are often complicated by the presence of other conditions that compromise the body’s ability to heal, making an accurate diagnosis, and treatment plan, complex.

What is preventive IV therapy?

For patients with certain gastrointestinal conditions, IV vitamin treatments can help provide necessary nutrition that their stomachs can't absorb. Most adults can get IV treatments safely, but the exact details of the IV treatment should be discussed with a medical professional before deciding on the ingredients. This treatment is contraindicated for anyone with compromised kidney function or renal failure.

What is Functional Neurology?

Functional Neurology is sometimes referred to as Chiropractic Neurology. Functional neurology developed within the chiropractic profession for two reasons: chiropractic neurologists use spine and extremity manipulation to affect the autonomic nervous system. Additionally, pharmaceuticals and surgery are not therapeutic options available to chiropractors. Functional neurologists base treatment on the concept that stimulation of an area is enough to engage the brain’s inherent neuroplasticity, which is its ability to heal itself from certain injuries and conditions.

What is digital acupuncture?

In traditional Eastern acupuncture, one needle is used at each treatment point. Digital Acupuncture or Electroacupuncture is a modified form that uses two needles. A mild electric current passes between these needles during treatment, and provides more stimulation to acupoints than needle twirling or other hand manipulation techniques. Electroacupuncture is generally very safe if done by a skilled provider. However, if performed incorrectly, it can cause internal injuries or even electric shock.

What is Bioenergy Balancing?

Bioenergy Balancing combines Western medical principles with Eastern concepts of chi and the meridian/chakra systems. Bioenergy balancing uses applied kinesiology to test for variations in muscle strength. The body's responses are believed to reveal the basis for physical symptoms, recurrent emotional patterns, past traumas, and allergies.

What is adrenal fatigue, and how is it treated?

Adrenal fatigue is not an accepted medical diagnosis. It is the notion that our adrenal glands get overworked by stress and stop producing hormones we need, including cortisol. The medical term "adrenal insufficiency" refers to inadequate production of one or more hormones as a result of an underlying disease or surgery. Adrenal insufficiency can be diagnosed by blood tests and special stimulation tests. Some options for treatment include oral corticosteroids to replace cortisol given on a schedule to mimic the normal 24-hour fluctuation of cortisol levels.

How does homeopathy work?

Homeopathic practitioners believe that a small amount of a substance which causes a disease will stimulate the body to heal itself. The theory is analogous to modern day vaccination whereby exposure to a small amount of a killed or inactivated microbe can result in protection against developing the disease. Another theory underlying homeopathy is that of potentization. It's thought that the more dilute an ingredient, the more potent it becomes, and that by diluting and agitating an ingredient its curative properties are activated and enhanced.

What is Applied Sound Therapy?

Applied Sound Therapy is a method of restoring integrity to cells, tissues and organs with sound waves. Like ultrasound it is transdermal, however, its frequencies are in the audible sound spectrum.

What is Thermography testing?

Thermography uses infrared technology to detect and record temperature changes on the surface of the skin. When a cancerous growth develops, there may be inflammation in the tissue that raises skin temperature, which a thermal camera can 'map’. Some facilities offer thermography as an alternative to mammography as it does not use radiation, it is a 'non-contact, no compression' modality, it can detect vascular changes that bear investigation many years before other methods, and it is effective with dense tissue and implants.

What does Pulsed Electromagnetic Frequency treat?

Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (PEMFT, or PEMF therapy), also known as low field magnetic stimulation (LFMS) uses electromagnetic fields for the clinical treatment of non-healing fractures, tendon tears, chronic ulcers, post-surgical pain, and acute or chronic pain. The magnetic fields create specific micro-currents within tissue that cause local and global improvement by aiding or restarting cellular signaling. Unfortunately, there is no strong consensus on specific intensities, frequencies, or waveforms for particular conditions.

What is low dose Immunotherapy?

Low Dose Immunotherapy retrains the immune system to tolerate specific antigens, such as foods, bacteria, viral or fungal pathogens. Low dose immunotherapy is ideal for patients who are reactive to many foods, chemicals and with certain autoimmune or overactive immune conditions. LDI is administered sublingually and uses much lower concentrations of allergens than traditional immunotherapy.

What is craniosacral therapy?

The craniosacral system follows a rhythm, and the skull bones accommodate its pulse. It is believed that both physical and emotional problems can create a disturbance in the normal movement of the cranial sutures and flow of cerebrospinal fluid. The practitioner works with the bones of the skull and the pelvis. Craniosacral therapy involves two forms of gentle manipulation: slight pressure on the cranial bones and a small amount of pressure to distract the head, neck, or spine. The adjustments are believed to restore balance to the nervous system and surrounding structures that support it.

What is EFT, Emotional Freedom Technique?

Emotional Freedom Technique is an alternative treatment for physical and emotional pain that incorporates aspects of acupuncture, neuro-linguistic programming, energy medicine and Thought Field therapy. It involves tapping specific meridian points on the face and body, while maintaining focus on the issue.

How does Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) work?

Injured tissue requires more than a normal oxygen supply to survive. The increased air pressure in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber causes the lungs to oxygenate blood more than would be possible under normal air pressure. The extra oxygen in the blood also helps fight bacteria and stimulates the release of stem cells which promote healing. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is considered a generally safe procedure, and is usually a multi session treatment. It has been noted that with repeated scheduled treatments, the temporary extra high oxygen levels encourage normal tissue oxygen levels, even after the therapy is completed.

What is Ayurvedic medicine?

Ayurveda is an alternative medicine system that originated in India. Ayurveda holds that disease results from an imbalance in a person's consciousness and focuses on lifestyle interventions and natural therapies. Treatment starts with an internal purification process, followed by a special diet, herbal remedies, massage therapy, yoga, and meditation. Ayurvedic medicines are regulated as dietary supplements rather than as drugs in the United States. They are not required to meet the safety and efficacy standards of conventional medicines and must be used under the guidance of a trained practitioner.

What is EMDR?

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a psychotherapy method used to treat trauma, PTSD, panic disorder, anxiety and depression. EMDR may be used within a standard talking therapy, as an adjunctive therapy with a separate therapist, or as a treatment all by itself. It is not a "talk therapy". Unlike talk therapy, the insights clients gain in EMDR therapy result from their own accelerated intellectual and emotional processes. EMDR allows the brain to access its natural healing process. EMDR therapy is recognized as an effective treatment for trauma by the American Psychiatric Association, the World Health Organization and the Department of Defense.

Is Dry Needling the same as acupuncture?

Dry needling is also known as Trigger Point Dry Needling (TDN). TDN uses a filiform needle inserted into musculoskeletal trigger points to induce a mechanical effect known as a localized twitch reflex/response [LTR]. The pain relief response is due in part to the specific effect the needle has on the tissue/area being treated. It is also thought that the localized twitch response initiates a break in the pain cycle. Unlike Chinese acupuncture, which uses specific energetic points for needling, in TDN treatment the needle is inserted into musculoskeletal trigger points to bring about pain relief.

Can Prolozone therapy help with my joint pain?

Prolozone is a technique that combines the principles of neural therapy, Prolotherapy, and ozone therapy.
